Yesterday I was blessed to speak on a keynote panel at the Blogging While Brown Conference with some of the digital landscape’s most influential players: @AngelonFire of @ConcreteLoop, @NecoleBitchie, and @KarenCivil. To say that I was humbled would be an understatement. These women are people I’ve looked up to and admired for years, and I was honored to be included amongst them.
This panel meant a lot to me not just because I was sharing the stage with such savvy, successful business women, but moreso because too often, black women tear each other down, compete, and fight for what they perceive to be the only spot. The fact that we were able to share the spotlight and uplift each other while offering advice to others was symbolic—and necessary.
We can work together. We can be friends. We can join forces and move forward not just to empower ourselves, but to empower black women everywhere.
